General Terms and Conditions (GTC)

These General Terms and Conditions (the “Terms”) govern access to and use of the Cara’s Book Club services (the “Service”). By registering, subscribing, or participating in any activity, you agree to be bound by these Terms.


1. Provider Information

The Service is operated by Cara’s Book Club, a company registered in France, with its registered office in Aix-en-Provence, SIRET 53433376000039 (the “Provider”).

2. Description of the Service

Cara’s Book Club provides online English-as-a-Second-Language learning activities focused on reading, discussion, and language practice, including but not limited to:

  • Live online group discussions
  • Reading materials and recommendations
  • Educational resources and exercises
  • Community features (forums, chats, or similar tools)

The Service is delivered primarily online and may be accessed from France or abroad.


3. Eligibility

The Service is intended for users aged 18 and above. By using the Service, you confirm that you meet these requirements.


4. Fees and Payment

4.1 Pricing
Prices are indicated in euros (€) and include all applicable taxes (TTC), unless otherwise stated.

4.2 Payment Terms
Payments are due in advance via the payment methods indicated on the website (CB via Stripe).


5. Cancellation and Reimbursement

Clients may cancel their registration from a Book Club and receive full reimbursement up to 48 hours before the beginning of the first course. 

However, if the Course has begun (4 / 6/ 8 weeks), there will be no reimbursement. In addition, partial reimbursement is not possible for no-show from a Live Session. 

The Provider reserves the right to cancel or reschedule sessions; in such cases, users will receive a refund or credit.


6. Exceptional Circumstances

Refunds may be considered on a case-by-case basis in exceptional situations (e.g. serious illness), at the Provider’s discretion.


7. User Conduct

Users agree to:

  • Participate respectfully and courteously
  • Refrain from discriminatory, abusive, or offensive language
  • Not share illegal, infringing, or harmful content
  • Respect the learning environment and other members

The Provider may remove content or exclude users who violate these rules.


8. Intellectual Property

All content provided by the Service (texts, videos, materials, trademarks, and logos) is protected by intellectual property laws and remains the exclusive property of the Provider or its licensors.

Users are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to access the content for personal, non-commercial educational use only.


9. User-Generated Content

By posting or sharing content within the Service, you grant the Provider a non-exclusive, royalty-free right to use, reproduce, and display such content solely for the operation and promotion of the Service.

You remain responsible for the content you publish and confirm that it does not infringe third-party rights.


10. Availability of the Service

The Provider strives to ensure continuous access but does not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Maintenance, updates, or technical issues may result in temporary suspension.

The Provider shall not be held liable for interruptions beyond its reasonable control.


11. Liability

The Service is provided for educational purposes only. While reasonable efforts are made to ensure quality, the Provider does not guarantee specific learning outcomes.

To the extent permitted by French law, the Provider’s liability is limited to direct damages and excludes indirect or consequential losses.


12. Personal Data

Personal data is processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and French data protection laws.

13. Modification of the Terms

The Provider reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Users will be informed of material changes, and continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.


14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by French law.
In the event of a dispute, the parties shall seek an amicable solution. Failing this, the dispute shall be submitted to the competent French courts.

Consumers may also use a consumer mediation service in accordance with Articles L612-1 et seq. of the French Consumer Code.
